Hackergal-2018

Hackergal:

“Girls gain knowledge and courage! They are introduced to technology development before deciding what courses to take in high school. The girls will be exposed to real life applications when it comes to understanding how problems are solved at the core root of every mobile app or game. They are empowered to pursue careers in technology.”

Since March, sixteen female students from grades 6-8 have been part of a team that has been learning text-based Python coding through Codesters.com. On May 2nd, 100 schools participated in a Hackergal event. Their challenge was to create an interactive story with an “endangered species” theme.

Unionville College girls did magnificently well and should all be proud of their involvement in the programme. Special thanks to Ms. Sultana, Ms. Tremain and Mr. Osmar for helping our students get prepared for the event and introducing them to some lifelong problem-solving skills.
